The IELTS is used for study, employment, and migration in the English-speaking countries. Compared to other Cambridge English exams, IELTS is much more useful for immigration or acceptance into university. Cambridge exams such as the PTE, FCE, and BULATS are used almost exclusively for employment at private companies, the formal granting of medical licenses, skilled migrant visas, and acceptance into degree programs.
Established in 1989, IELTS has become the most popular high-stakes English-language certificate in the world. There are currently around 1,000 test locations in more than 140 countries, carrying out over two million tests each year. Over 9,000 organizations worldwide accept the certificate as a proof of proficiency in the English language. Olive academy IELTS program help you to clear this popular test with flying colours
The IELTS test has four sections
The IELTS assesses four English skills. There are assessments for “literacy” English skills, reading, and writing and it also tests your ability in listening and speaking conversational English skills.
Why choose IELTS?
IELTS is the test that puts people first. Conducting 3 million tests in 2018 globally, IELTS is the world's most popular high-stakes English Language test, and we pride ourselves on the personal touch. Respected and accepted world-wide, IELTS prepares you for success in the real world. And Olive academy IELTS program prepares you for the IELTS itself.
IELTS is accepted by more than 10,000 organisations in over 140 countries. Those organisations include governments, academic institutions, and employers with 3,000 in the USA alone. Proving your English language skills with an IELTS test can help you get a better job or a promotion in your home country.
Which IELTS test should I take?
There are currently three versions of the IELTS test: Academic, General Training and Life Skills. These differ in content and address different target groups. At Olive Academy IELTS, we take you through all of it.IELTS Academic is intended for people who want to attend study programs at universities and other institutions of higher education which are taught in English. You will need an Academic test band score to enroll for an undergraduate or graduate degree where the teaching is in English. You can also take this version of IELTS to register within a professional body in an English-speaking country. Therefore, if you intend to join professional associations in disciplines such as medicine, nursing, law or engineering, you may need to pass the IELTS Academic exam.
IELTS General Training is a good choice if you want to migrate to an English-speaking country and work there, or if you plan to attend a graduate or postgraduate program. An IELTS score is often required by the government authorities of English-speaking countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. These countries accept the General Training certificate as evidence of language competences on the part of immigration and study visa applicants. Sometimes, even native English speakers need an English language qualification to migrate to certain English-speaking countries.
IELTS Life Skills, the test for the UK Visas and Immigration, is appropriate if you wish to immigrate to or obtain citizenship in the United Kingdom. Unlike the other two versions, the Life Skills test assesses only your speaking and listening English skills, at levels A1 or B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). You will need IELTS Life Skills A1 to apply for a UK Visas and Immigration family, spouse or partner visa, and IELTS Life Skills B1 to obtain citizenship or the right to permanent residence. The purpose of this exam is to determine how well you communicate with other people in everyday English.
Test Dates, Fees and Location?
The IDP offers IELTS tests in 61 locations whereas the British Council India offers IELTS tests in 60 locations. IELTS test dates are offered up to 4 times in a month making a total of 48 fixed test dates in one calendar year. The availability of IELTS dates in India may differ for the Academic and General Training module. While the Academic version is available on all 48 dates, the General Training version is available on 24 dates. To create flexibility and convenience, tests are mostly held on Saturdays and Thursdays.
Please note that listening, reading, writing (LRW) tests shall take place on the same day while the speaking tests will be conducted up to 7 days prior and/or post the test date. It may be possible that your nearest IELTS test location may not offer the same date as another IELTS test city location.
The fee for regular IELTS is 13,250. It differs for IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills. The fee may be deposited via various modes of payment such as debit/credit card (Master or Visa), net banking, DD or bank deposit in ICICI/Allahabad bank branches via a customized deposit slip.
